Grace = unfair?

While reading Phillip Yancey's What's So Amazing About Grace? I have learned a lot about grace. God = Grace. But what is Grace? I think the best example is from one parable Jesus told his disciples. The owner of a wheat field advertised that he needed people to harvest his field. Some people came at the beginning of the day, some people came at lunch time, and some people came an hour before closing. At the end of the day, instead of paying his workers by the hour, he gave them all $100. The people who came at the beginning of the day received the same pay as those who arrived at the end of the day. What was Jesus' point with this story? I think that he wanted to tell people that grace cannot be earned. Grace is not based on merit. Grace is a free gift and should be taken as such. We can look at the thief who hung next to Jesus on the cross. He was a christian for an hour? 30 mins? Who knows, and yet Jesus said to him "Today you will be with me in Paradise." Obviously if this thief can receive God's grace, so can we. Many Christians spend their lives trying to earn grace because they just can't understand its free. Its FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grace is the most incredible gift that you will ever receive. You can't earn it, replace it, or give it back. I think Christians need to learn to bask in the freeness of God's grace.

Christlove to all
